Meet the Doctor

Let me tell you my story...

I always knew I wanted to be in the health field as a child, I loved helping people.  Growing up in a medical family I figured I'd become a doctor or a nurse, however I didn't like medications and this is why...

I was the "sick" kid of the family.  With a history of allergies, asthma, severe headaches, ear infections, febrile convulsions, regular infections of strep throat, sinusitis and bronchitis were the norm for me throughout the year.  I was on allergy shots, inhalers, decongestants and antibiotics on a regular basis.  When I was 14 my mother had started going to a chiropractor after injuring her neck and lower back in a car accident.  Her chiropractor  recommended I get my nervous system checked.  I remember watching my mother get adjusted and thought "no way is this lady doing that to my neck".  However, Mom insisted I get checked and a thorough examination was performed.  After learning about the possibility that some of my health problems could be from my nervous system not working correctly; I was curious to see if adjustments would help me and began receiving treatments consisting of spinal adjustments and muscle massage.

As time passed, I started to notice that my headaches were gradually decreasing. I wasn't having them everyday nor were they as intense as they used to be.  I also wasn't as sick the following winter and had decreased the amount of decongestant I had to take because my sinuses weren't as stuffy.  As the years went by and I left for college I was able to gradually decrease my medications to the point that I didn't need them any longer. I was ecstatic!!! It amazed me that I would be able to do such a simple thing as mow the lawn!  Before I would've had a massive allergy attack and been secluded in the air conditioned house for hours after the lawn was mowed.  I was thrilled to be able to enjoy outdoor activities without any concerns my allergies or asthma would act up.

I was so excited that chiropractic helped me, during my sophomore year I began taking the prerequisites required for chiropractic college.

My experience is not the typical chiropractic story.  I love being able to share it with others in the hopes that I will help people understand that chiropractic can be beneficial for more than back pain, headaches or neck pain.
